Round Curing Technology - for the Highest Cable Quality and Productivity on VCV Lines

Written by Roger Möller | Aug 5, 2026, 4:00:00 AM

The insulation process of high-voltage submarine cables can be considered a complex process. In our efforts to simplify, we have brought real benefit when installing the Maillefer Round Curing technology. The theoretical and calculated results, together with R&D line testing, have now proven accurate on several VCV lines installed globally.

Thanks to MRC technology, it is now possible to increase the curing power of the CV tube without any issues. The curing process can be started very efficiently while increasing the total curing power without negative side effects. More curing power naturally leads to higher production speed.

High speed and exceptional quality are possible with MRC technology by providing the best results in terms of cable core ovality. Typically, thick insulation layers with small conductor are demanding constructions to perfect. With MRC technology, it is possible to produce cores with 0.995 roundness, repeatedly, and at record speeds.

MRC upgrade package for old VCV lines

MRC is a perfect fit for older Maillefer VCV lines when demanding higher capacity. The first curing section is replaced with one containing MRC, which is built with a special high-temperature resistant steel structure. The time to upgrade an existing Maillefer VCV line with MRC is realized in a two-week period.

An NCC upgrade* is also integrated into the existing line control together with MRC. The automated curing calculation program is easy to use. All existing NCC recipes are compatible without change. NCC optimization guarantees maximum effectiveness for MRC without the risk of degrading outer semicon.

* PSU version 6 is required for NCC upgrade
