The productivity of an optical cable manufacturing line can be significantly improved by increasing line speed. The buffering process has introduced entirely new limits for these speeds, making the start-up procedure increasingly important. A rapid ramp-up to production speed may generate substantial scrap before the process stabilizes.
Maillefer provides controlled quality ramps that allow fibers to be introduced into the process at low speeds. The line control system then creates a smooth quality ramp-up to the final production speed, ensuring that all material produced during ramp-up meets quality requirements.
To further enhance performance, Maillefer introduces a fiber feeding unit designed for start-up speeds. This solution reduces start-up scrap even more, making operations easier and safer.
Benefits
- Minimized start-up scrap
- Easy operation
- Improved safety.
