NKT in Karlskrona, Sweden has acquired the 550th CV line built by Maillefer and the 250th one dedicated to High-Voltage cable. The primary purpose of this line is volume production of Extra High-Voltage subsea cable of the highest quality. The time has come to celebrate.
Shaking hands in Düsseldorf
We marked this milestone at the Wire & Cable exhibition in Düsseldorf this spring. Mr. Jonas Alfson, Director Special Project of NKT, was present to accept recognition for the line acquisition. The serial number is unique, but more significantly it underscores our long-term relationships with cable manufacturers like NKT.
To meet subsea cable demand
Europe and parts of Asia are firmly transitioning to widespread green energy use. The explosive growth of offshore wind power projects and plants in these areas have stimulated the market. This growth has led to a high demand for submarine cables. The inquiries and sales of lines to produce such cable have enormously increased.
NKT’s new line is currently the best available in its product range. It boasts excellent qualifications for equipment effectiveness and can produce long runs over lengthy periods. For example, in terms of volume, the line is equipped with Maillefer’s newest and largest NXW 225 mm high-output extruder. The latest innovations for subsea cable manufacturing are also included.
Cable manufacturing forefront
We continue the development of our lines and equipment. Innovation is closely tied to that work. Our goal is to make superior lines for the Medium-, High- and Extra High- Voltage segments. We want to offer solutions for customers who demand a lot and want to be at the forefront of cable manufacturing in terms of productivity, quality, and automation.
Involved in the change
It gives great satisfaction to be heavily involved in the supply chain for finished cables needed for the energy transition. We are at 550 and counting. With the symbolic number, NKT in Karlskrona, Sweden and Maillefer confirm their roles in making change happen now and into the future.
